Bears Player Preview: Josh Bullocks

joshbullocks_102507

Josh Bullocks signed with the Bears this off-season to compete at the free safety spot, but now since they moved Corey Graham to free safety, Bullocks will compete at the strong safety position.

When the Bears signed Bullocks this is what one New Orleans Saints fan had to say about it:

“I hope Bears fans don’t have any expectations for Bullocks to start (they likely do). As a Saints season ticker holder, I can almost guarantee the Saints have the worst starting safeties in the league… and Bullocks COULDNT EVEN START FOR US. He’s late to reads, miss-times jumps, has terrible hands, doesn’t tackle well and he’s slow. Other than that, he’s a fine player…Goodluck.”

Although he started 51 games in four years, including the playoffs, his best season was his rookie year (2nd round pick) in 2005 and after that he fell off.

He only started six games last season, after starting every game  in his first three seasons.

If he was bad with the one of the worst pass defenses in the Saints, why will he be better with the Bears?

I sure hope he is a backup at best for this secondary.

Bullocks has started games, making tackles, seven interceptions and three forced fumbles.

Corey Graham looks like the starter at free safety this season.
