The Bears have officially cut down their roster to 53 players.
Here is the list of players cut:
QB Brett Basanez,FB Jason Davis, FB Will Ta’ufo,ou, WR Eric Peterman, WR Brandon Rideau, G Johan Asiata, OT Cody Balogh, G Dan Buenning, C Donovan Raiola, DE Ervin Baldwin, DE Joe Clermond, LB Marcus Freeman, LB Kevin Malast, LB Darrell McClover, LB Mike Rivera, CB Rudy Burgess, CB Rod Hood, CB Marcus Hamilton, and CB Woodny Turenne.
The players listed in bold are the seven players who signed on the practice squad today.
They still have one spot left on the practice squad and some likely candidates are fifth round pick, LB, Marcus Freeman, LT Cody Balogh or a rookie running back on waivers.
In other news the Bears also placed Kevin Jones (ankle), Dahna Deleston (hamstring) and defensive end Henry Melton (ankle) on the injured reserve.
The Bears should look to pick up a veteran running back to rotate with Matt Forte, maybe former Colt and Raider Dominic Rhodes will get picked up. Bears coaches are saying their fine with Garrett Wolfe and Adrian Peterson picking up the load when Forte is on the sideline, but I don’t if their good enough. If they don’t pick a running back up, they should at least explore the idea.
