It’s About Time: Bears Cut Trumaine McBride

78012448The Bears finally cut cornerback Trumaine McBride, a guy I thought they should have cut along time ago.

McBride, the Bears seventh round pick was thought to be out of a job in the preseason, but stayed on the roster until week one, where he suffered a knee sprain. That knee sprain will keep him out four to six weeks, so the Bears decided to just let him go. McBride played in 32 games in two seasons with the Bears, starting nine of them, recording 52 tackles and one interception

Taking his place will be Cowboys fifth round pick, DeAngelo Smith. Smith played 47 games, making  28 starts where he recorded 126 tackles and twelve interceptions. Smith was waived by the Cowboys and then picked up by the Cleveland Browns, but he couldn’t stick with either team.

Smith will take McBride’s spot on special teams and will be at the bottom of the depth chart.
