Robbie Gould Clutch In Shocker Over Defending Champs

Steelers Bears FootballThe Bears stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight. They watched Steelers kicker Jeff Reed miss two huge field goals. Robbie Gould was clutch again with his game winning 44 yard field goal with 20 seconds left.

Players like Johnny Knox, Kellen Davis, Greg Olsen, and Devin Hester all stepped up on offense. Hunter Hillenmeyer, Lance Briggs, Alex Brown and Charles Tillman lead the defense today.

The running game struggled once again, but its because Matt Forte and Adrian Peterson had no where to run. Look for them to pound it next week in Seattle. Anyone who doubted this team, now knows they are for real. Jay Cutler looked phenomenal on the scoring drives, including completing 4/4 passes on the final game winning drive. Cutler finished the game with over 200 yards passing, two touchdowns and a 104 QB rating.

People say Bears football is boring, maybe it is, but I don’t care the Bears are back. If Jay Cutler can play like that consistently the Bears are in buisness. Hester and Knox are very good receivers, and so is Earl Bennett.

We’ll see you next week against Seattle.

BEAR DOWN!

Robbie Gould is def the best Bears kicker ever and maybe the best kicker of all time. Nice victory, this game felt like the playoffs. Those Jay Cutler haters need to can it. NOW TO SEATTLE. GO BEARS!!

  2. Shane McDonald Says:

how can you say nice victory? That was the luckiest thing I've ever seen. Jeff Reed one of the most consistent kickers of all time, missed two field goals. I think that was a miracle for you guys, we the super bowl champs, so we got ur number if we meet in the playoffs, so watch out. Go Steelers.

  3. Ryan Hanngin Says:

ok maybe we got a little lucky, but luck doesn't hurt it only helps, that wasn't a miracle and we just be you guys the defending champs, that will give us momentum that should last the whole season. watch out for the 09' Bears.

Saying that last night was lucky is stupid. Yes he did miss two field goals but would you say it was luck that he made them… I dont think so. Knox really suprised me last night and proved that he can be a dominate reciever in the NFL. Even with the loss of Urlacher the 09 Bears are going to be a force to be recking with. We need our remainging defensive starters to remain healthy and Cutler needs to stay consistent like he did last night. BEAR down Chicago BEARS!!!!!

  6. bearsbacker Says:

thanks for the comment Matt. I totally agree. What do you think of the defensive line? Do you think they'll be that good at getting pressure all year?

  7. Matt Says:

I believe they will continue to pressure the QB. I think Brown is the key though. He is fast and agile and very good at containment for run plays. We need Brown and Hillenmeyer to have huge games againts the Vikings in order to keep AP controlled. I dont think that the pass rush is our main concern but it deffenitely needs improvement. I think our biggest area of concern is containment whether its a QB or a RB. What about our running game. Cutler seems to be getting the time he needs but I feel like I havent seen much of a running game which the Bears are known for.

  8. bearsbacker Says:

I agree but they just played two of the best run defenses in the league, I think they'll bounce back. I like Forte not only as a runner but as a receiver too, and I love Adrian Peterson (of the Bears) as a receiver out of the backfield. They should use them both on the field at the same time.

  9. Matt Says:

That wouldnt be a bad idea. Dont get me wrong I love Forte. He is one of the best RB's we have had in a while in my opinion. He is at least the most consistent in years.

  10. bearsbacker Says:

this is very true. thanks again for being a consistent reader and commenter. go Bears!
