The Bears are looking to add another running back to replace the injured Garrett Wolfe, who is a special teams contributor and running back. Wolfe is expected to be out for 2-4 weeks, with his kidney problems.
No, the Bears aren’t looking to add a distraction in Larry Johnson, who was recently released by the Chiefs, but their looking for someone who can help out on special teams.
Maurice Hicks might be that guy. The Bears brought him in for physical, but the Bears didn’t sign him because this week is so short.
Hicks is a 31 year old running back, who was actually signed by the Bears in 2002 out of North Carolina A&T, but stuck with the 49ers for most of his career. He played for Minnesota last year. Hicks will take the role of Wolfe on special
teams, but don’t expect to see him get any carries behind Matt Forte and Adrian Peterson.
Hicks should be a nice cheap pickup for the Bears.
